VERY BIG MARKET FOR BOOKS
There is a very big market for books of fiction written in Bengali*, as confirmed by Mr. Tridib Kumar Chattopadhyay** in the following video on YouTube:
এই সময় যা হারিয়েছি, যা পেয়েছি / Srijato Chandril Tridib/LIVE, FREE &... (1:18:04) / Bengali CineClub Australia [বাতায়ন] (YouTube)
*The number of readers in West Bengal and Bangladesh who read Bengali fiction is vast, and books published by Kolkata publishers are incredibly LOW-PRICED. (I don't know how the publishers of Bengali books manage to keep their publications so low-priced; perhaps because making books low-priced is a WIN WIN situation for publishers and for the vast number of readers, like the very successful Internet model in India. I find that books of fiction written in Assamese and Hindi are ALSO incredibly low-priced like books of fiction in Bengali BUT the number of Assamese and Hindi readers is not so large, I think.)
** "Tridib Kumar Chattopadhyay is a Bengali writer and editor. He is the General Secretary of the Publishers & Booksellers Guild, organiser of International Kolkata Book Fair. He is the present owner of Patra Bharati." (Wikipedia)
