ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION 

The most important thing to learn if you wish to master the correct pronunciation of English words is to learn and memorize the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) symbols, including the symbol for schwa.

All modern English dictionaries - such as Oxford, Cambridge, Longman etc. - use IPA symbols to indicate pronunciation. 

Norman Lewis uses a very easy method of pronunciation in DICTIONARY OF WORD POWER (Rs. 195) and also in DICTIONARY OF PRONUNCIATION (Rs. 150), published by Goyal Publishers & Distributors, Delhi 110007. Of course I have a copy of both. I don't bluff like some booktube girls I have seen on YouTube. I have about 20 or 30 excellent English dictionaries. I am NOT bluffing. I NEVER bluff. I can't understand why people bluff.

I bought the standard English dictionary of pronunciation by Daniel Jones many years ago. When I was a college student, I bought English-learning LP Linguaphone records from Linguaphone Institute c/o British Institutes, Fort, Bombay (Mumbai). Now Linguaphone sells language-learning CDs. (I still remember that the name of the Linguaphone lady I corresponded with many years ago was Mrs. L. Lall.)

I have read Norman Lewis remarking with amusement that Americans secretly envy British pronunciation because Americans feel American pronunciation to be inferior to British pronunciation! (I don't like fake, pompous British accent, however. I use standard RP - Received Pronunciation.)

A FANTASTIC TIP 

All authortube girls are chatterboxes and therefore they can produce stories very fast BY COMPOSING STORIES ORALLY AT A FAST SPEED AND RECORDING THEIR STORIES AT THE SAME TIME. When the recording is over, their oral stories can be transcribed from the audio recording into text either by:

1) using voice to text app

OR by:

2) using a professional stenographer to change their recorded spoken stories to shorthand (e.g. Gregg shorthand, Pitman shorthand etc.) and then transcribe the shorthand to a typed text (if authortube girls know shorthand, they can do the job themselves DIY) a la an office boss giving dictations directly to his/her stenographer secretary or indirectly by speaking into a recording device (it's called Dictaphone, I think) to be transcribed in shorthand and then typed by the stenographer secretary. 

Dr. Rudolf Flesch, a top expert on the art of readable writing, says: WRITE AS YOU TALK.

Thank God, at long last Brooke seems to be talking some sense although frankly I have hardly understood her enthusiastic talk. She seems to be talking excitedly about a Google aid for writers. Another authortube girl, Camille, now displays a new kind of electronic typewriter named ALPHASMART*which used to cost around 500 dollars but is not manufactured any more but there are quite a number for sale and she got one ALPHASMART* recently for only about 20 dollars, I think. Certainly we should search for and use affordable modern gadgets and apps that help us write better and write faster. I think there are apps that change spoken words to text - this amazing voice to text app could help all writers who want to write faster! All authortube girls have the same dream - to become a rich best-selling author overnight. (Frankly, I have no desire to write books, and so I absolutely don't want to become "rich and famous" in the mundane, earthly sense, by becoming a "best-selling author". If My vast number of online posts are collected in book form, I would probably become Author of 500 or 1000 concisely written, readable books.)

Writing the first draft - without pausing from time to time to correct spelling and grammar - is called FREE WRITING. When we have finished free writing, we should check grammar and spelling and polish our sentences and rearrange sentences for effectiveness if necessary.

Brooke and Camille have strong fanciful imagination but Natalia is practical and serious and much more mature than the other two newbies. Too much immaturity and frivolousness can be frustrating.

I cannot descend to their level. Every word I speak, every word I write, every thought I think, has to be meaningful and important (with occasional lapses). I do NOT want to be a chatterbox like the talkative girls who have nothing important to say but keep on talking and talking endlessly. I have a very serious unemotional supercomputer mind and so I am totally unaffected by females. Sorry.
