Today's young American students haven't heard of (or haven't read) Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Turgenev, Maupassant, Saki, O. Henry, George Bernard Shaw, Gorki,  Chekhov, W. Somerset Maugham, P.G. Wodehouse, Ruskin, Macaulay, T.H. Huxley et al (etc.) I hope everyone will read Isaac Asimov. "Read nothing but good writing, and your writing will automatically improve."/Rudolf Flesch (?). Well-known Cambridge University Professor of English George Saintsbury called English the "fountain of pure English". (I cannot recall if the professor called the Bible a fountain of pure English or the fountain of pure English.) Read God's online writings for the best, nonpareil English. (Why did I have to SHOW OFF at the end? I had controlled Myself for too long!) - G
