POETRY - MANU JOSEPH

POETRY

Most poems are completely incomprehensible and can mean anything, like modern abstract painting! And also I have noticed that dry prose typographically arranged to give the appearance of a series of stanzas is passed off by novices as "poetry"! And euphony is completely missing! - G

A terrific - and terrifying - poet is Robert Browning (cf. his terrifying poem Fra Lippo Lippi which I read a few years ago - perhaps I got the name of the poem wrong - the poem I read was actually about a powerful potentate who brutally murdered his wife because he suspected her of infidelity; something like the black .
guy Othello, I guess, but even worse; the poem was NOT Fra Lippo Lippi, I think - what an odd name: Fra Lippo Lippi. Sounds like "hippie"... I have an excellent collection of Robert Browning's poems - probably a guide book by an Indian professor of English - but right now I don't want to engage in time-consuming search operations looking for the book in My personal library of 2000 to 3000 books, like looking for a needle in a haystack. I have more interesting things to do like watching sweet s. gals on YouTube and TV.)

MANU JOSEPH

I have commented several times on the strange reticence of provocative writer cum journalist Manu Joseph - Joseph reminds Me of betrothed "Virgin" Mary and also of Adam and his "betrothed" Eve in the Garden of Eden, and seems to be much advertised as a misogynist or misogamist (read WORD POWER MADE EASY by Prof. Norman Lewis to see the difference between the two words; I am neither a misogynist nor a misogamist but A Strict Monogamist) - about the exact locality in Madras where he was born or grew up (I guess he may be a "reincarnation" or a clone of betrayed Joseph) - but what about mysterious God Himself IF He is living in human form somewhere on Earth?

Rudolf Flesch and A. H. Lass write in a very interesting book on English composition:

"If You read nothing but good writing, Your writing will automatically improve."

"Guru" Khushwant Singh however wrote that reading poor writing can be useful because you can then see the difference between good writing and poor writing.

I can extrapolate this to see that it applies to every field: by observing TRASH, you can see the difference with QUALITY achieved by years of sincere sustained practice.
