Katniss, the "heroine" of the novel, is a paranoid girl with a hyperactive imagination who thinks TOO HIGHLY of herself and foolishly imagines that she is the one and only deserving lover in the whole world and that Gale had fallen "head over heels in love with her" after a few seconds of talk: I am sure that He did not have the slightest such feeling. Peeta/Peter is a pathetic fellow who feels needlessly guilty about having married Katniss. Why feel guilty about nothing? Modern girls are very promiscuous and they have lots of sex with many. No big deal.
